Called to Exploit or to Follow?

In Luke's account of the
crucifixion, a profound exchange is recorded
between Christ and the two thieves in the midst of
their execution. It has been said, "Crisis reveals
character," and so it was in this case. We shall
see that in a sense, one thief chose to exploit,
while the other chose to follow. One chose
self-interest, while the other deferred to God's.
One spoke out of the anguish of a broken body and
soul, while the other spoke out of a broken and
contrite spirit. Read

It has been documented that Hitler had a fascination with the occult. To win the masses over to blind, fanatical devotion to himself and Nazi ideology, he meshed occultism with Christianity, along with its terminology. Thus, it promoted a Nazism which was both respectable and justifiable. Read more...

Book review of Jon Zens' A
Church Building Every 1/2 Mile: What Makes American
Christianity Tick? by Paul Sue
Having read every issue of
"Searching Together" magazine (edited by Jon Zens)
since I first discovered it 15 years ago, I have
come to appreciate the clarity, the graciousness
and the wisdom and practical insights that Jon
brings to the discussion around church life. While
there have been a plethora of recent books on the
subject of church, in this brief little gem

Leaders And Their Delusions

The LIGHT of the world is Jesus
Christ. Atheists and Christ haters obviously don't
see the Light, because their world is delusional.

world are a very confused group of human beings.
If it were not so, then why is the church world
divided into endless divisions of customs,
traditions and doctrines? Remember that God is not
divided, nor is He the author of confusion. And
why is the political world divided into endless
divisions and waring factions? Does it not speak
loudly and clearly that leaders are in fact a very
confused people? It is human to follow human
leaders, and consequently, the masses of humanity
are very much sheep-like, following their false
shepherds. Read

The Power Of Words

Words spoken shape our thinking.
The words Jesus Christ spoke so impacted the
world, that hundreds of millions of human beings
have believed in Christ. Countless lives have been
changed for the better because of the words of
Jesus Christ. Odd, that at the same time, many
take offense at Jesus Christ, even though
everything He taught was only right and good. The
real reason religious leaders of the time of
Christ took offense with Him is because His words
took away their false authority, false power,
their prestige, their self importance, their
pride, their vanity, their false teachings, their
fake status and their looting. Jesus stripped fake
religion to the bare bones, proving that what one
sees in religious leaders is not necessarily a
Godsend. Read more...
