Battered sheep are only battered by human pastors, man-made religions, human governments, and other human beings. If you have ever experienced spiritual abuse, then you can know assuredly that Jesus Christ is not responsible. Jesus Christ does not batter or abuse as do human governments or religions or human beings. Atheists love to point to the incredible violence that is found in the Old Testament and to say, that if God is love, how can this be? A valid question indeed and some of the answers that preachers give for many things in the Old Testament are not satisfactory, and that is because human beings simply don't have answers to many questions in life. Like some others, I too see a great difference between God as presented to the world in the Old Testament and the life and teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament. I cannot personally comprehend the difference and so therefore I reserve some questions to ask Jesus Christ, for which no preacher has a valid answer. Many things assigned to "God" in the Old Testament are for me enigma's, and being one who questions everything, I don't assume that we necessarily have the answers. Read more...
