From Vague to Vagabond to Victory -- A Testimony of a Christian
by Roderick Edwards

One day, he was at the pulpit and said, "It is not enough to read your Bible but you must be under the preaching of a pastor." This was too much to bear. This was supposed to be a "Reformed" church where the heritage hails from those who had thrown off the Papal system, and here is this guy installing a new kind of pope -- called pastors. Of course, I didn't stand up and shout "You're Wrong!" (though looking back perhaps I should have). Rather, I wrote a letter to the entire congregation and to the elders as to why that statement is not only wrong but very dangerous and goes against everything it means to be Reformed. This was not received well. Read more...

Merchandising Jesus Christ
by Van Robison

moneyMoney is the obsession with religious leaders. There is no end to the organizations who promote "generous giving", tithing and merchandising material objects to willing buyers. While freewill giving is a voluntary decision of the individual, and is between the individual and God (Matthew 6:1-4), the promoters of "generous giving" are in the business of money--not Jesus Christ. The life and teachings of Jesus Christ did not zero in on an obsession with making money as it is with modern day churchianity. Read more...

The Genetically Engineered Church
by Van Robison

DNAHas the Church been modified with a spiritual genetic tampering? Many Christians the world over have been asking this question. What is genetic engineering? In the physical realm of life, it is said that genetic engineering is a technique used by scientists to change the DNA of living organisms. It is also said that through genetic manipulation, scientists can alter plants, animals and micro-organisms in a way that does not occur naturally. It is also believed that these modified organisms can spread through nature and interbreed with natural organisms thereby contaminating the environment we live in. Once released into the world we live in, those modified organisms cannot be recalled. Who can really say what the future holds for genetic engineering in the very food we eat? While the public is led to believe that genetic engineering is for the benefit of mankind, there is always the possibility that the real motives for tampering with nature have to do with profits--$$$. Jesus Has Left The Building
by Paul Sue

vieiraVieira's book is about his personal journey out of "institutional Christianity" to a more dynamic and fluid missional way of "doing church". In his own words,

This book reflects my personal and very painful journey away from institutional Christianity. What has driven my quest for a new experience with 'church' has been a growing dissatisfaction with the alarming contrast between what I read in the gospels and the Christianity that I have known. (13)

The book begins with some biographical details. Vieira was born into a nominally Catholic family. Eventually, the grace of God touched the whole family and they began to worship and study the Bible together as a family. In his newborn zeal, young Paul began to invite his friends over for prayer and mutual edification. God used this group of young people to spread the fire of revival in his neighborhood.
