The articles on Gene Edwards are interesting to say the least.

The arrogance you speak of is evident in his claims of uniqueness - especially when you see the wonderful ministries and individual troops the Lord has raised up around the world.

What a wonderful Bridegroom, Head, Lord of Hosts we serve, are indwelt by and await.

I am so hungry for Him and for His Kingdom and so tired of boring Sunday morning stuff (which I rarely attend at present) that I am really searching. Should find some good stuff on your site perhaps. You see, while I value small relational meetings I also desire to see broad, area-wide unity and transformation of entire areas by the invasion of the Kingdom - through His Church.

One book you might want to add to your list is Brian D. McLaren's A New Kind of Christian: a Tale of Two Friends on a Spiritual Journey. It is worth a read.

Wow! I was a part of the International Churches of Christ and your website describes my experiences as if you were there yourselves. I've been out for a year and have started to heal. Keep up the good work. You're helping a lot of people.

Have long felt the futility of a one-man show on Sunday morning! But the traditions of men have become entrenched in present day Christianity, certainly making the word of God of no effect. And how much precious time in a person's life has been wasted in being locked into this tradition.

I just got through reading an article about church buildings, which again is a tradition of the elders which meshes conveniently with the one-man show; need to go back into my records and get the e-mail address for you so you can see it agrees exactly with your article.

What-to-do then?? Well I guess God is bringing a remnant out of those old traditions, and possibly is going to send an earthquake of some sort to let his sheep out of the prison houses, much as in the book of Acts. But you will have to agree that the person playing the central role of the one-man show has a lot of perks and a good thing going - at least for now. However if persecution ever comes to the American church, then the guy in the pulpit may be looking for the rocks to fall on him and/or a basement to hide in, trashing financial records en route!!

What will preachers who have campaigned successfully for huge church buildings have to say if they are ever put on trial? We need more of the same articles, and also a solution to the question "What do we do instead of the one-man-show and huge building complex" situation. Looking forward to your answers. You can publish any part of this if you should see fit, forget the name though. I am not sure of all the answers myself yet - i.e. am not totally out of the woods myself!

Jon,

This photo was taken behind a church in Jamaica. As you can see, the institutional church in America is having quite an effect in the mission field.
