Pastors, Prophets, Priests and Scribes in the Old Testament

handle the law knew me not: the PASTORS also transgressed against me,
and the PROPHETS prophesied by Ba'al, and walked after things that do
not profit."
Jeremiah 5:31 "The PROPHETS prophesy falsely, and the PRIESTS bear rule
by their means; and my people love to have it so; and what will you do
in the end thereof?"
Jeremiah 6:13 "For from the least of them even unto the greatest of
them every one is given to covetousness; and from the PROPHET even unto
the PRIEST every one dealeth falsely."
Jeremiah 8:8 "How do you say, We are wise, and the law of the Lord is
with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the SCRIBES is in
vain."
Jeremiah 8:10 "... from the PROPHET even unto the PRIEST every one
dealeth falsely."
Jeremiah 10:21 "For the PASTORS are become brutish, and have not sought
the Lord; therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall
be scattered."
Jeremiah 12:10 "Many PASTORS have destroyed my vineyard..."
Jeremiah 14:14 "Then the Lord said unto me, The PROPHETS prophesy lies
in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither
spoke unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination,
and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart."
Jeremiah 22: 22 "The wind shall eat up all your PASTORS..."
Jeremiah 23:1 "Woe be unto the PASTORS that destroy and scatter the
sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord. (2) Therefore thus saith the Lord
God of Israel against the PASTORS that feed my people; You have
scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them:
behold I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, said the Lord."
Jeremiah 23:11 "For both PROPHET and PRIEST are profane; yes, in my
house have I found their wickedness, saith the Lord."
Jeremiah 23:13 "And I have seen folly in the PROPHETS of Samaria; they
prophesied in Ba'al, and caused my people Israel to err." (14) "I have
seen also in the PROPHETS of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit
adultery, and walk in lies; they strengthen also the hands of evildoers..."
Jeremiah 23:16 "Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the
words of the PROPHETS that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they
speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord."
Jeremiah 23:21 "I have not sent these PROPHETS, yet they ran: I have
not spoken to them, yet they prophesied."
Jeremiah 23:25 "I have heard what the PROPHETS said, that prophesy lies
in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. (26) How long shall
this be in the heart of the PROPHETS that prophesy lies? yes, they are
PROPHETS of the deceit of their own heart."
Jeremiah 23:30 "Therefore, behold, I am against the PROPHETS, saith the
Lord, that steal my words every one from his neighbor." (31) "Behold I
am against the PROPHETS saith the Lord, that use their tongues, and say,
He saith."
This is all very amazing, because when Jeremiah finished speaking to the
people what the Lord conveyed to him to speak to the pastors, the
priests, the prophets, the scribes, and the people, here is what happened:
Jeremiah 26:8 "Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of
speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak unto all the
people, that the PRIESTS and the PROPHETS and all the people took him,
saying, YOU SHALL SURELY DIE." (11) "Then spoke the PRIESTS and the
PROPHETS unto the princes and to all the people, saying, THIS MAN IS
WORTHY TO DIE..."
Is life really any different today, than it was thousands of years ago? When anyone stands for truth about any issue in this world, they are classified as "a hate crime" for publicly speaking out for God and truth. We are cowered into silence by fear of reprisals if we stand for truth against the powers of darkness.
